Dennis Burr: BA Hons, Dip Arch, MAUD Oxford, RIBA

Dennis founded the practice of Burr Lenton Architecture previously (Burr Design Associates in 1985) and has been involved with all the projects carried out by the practice. He supervised the transition from a partnership to becoming a limited company in 2005. His particular role within the practice includes responsibility for urban design and practice development. He has also won several awards including a Civic Design Award and an RIBA Award for best commercial architecture.

 

Dennis has taught and lectured at various institutions including 15 years as senior studio design tutor at Sheffield University, and 5 years as associate senior lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.  As well as design teaching Dennis has for the last three years been an RIBA external professional practice examiner. Dennis has a strong interest in improvisational music and its relation to creative design. As a result he has developed this interest by taking up and playing Jazz saxophone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Karl Lenton: BA Hons, Dip Arch.

Karl founded the practice Burr Lenton Architecture with his former tutor, mentor and friend Dennis Burr after graduating in 2014 from the CASS School of Art Architecture and Design.  Whilst studying at the CASS he was awarded the Sir John Cass Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and was nominated for the RIBA South West Live Project Award for his 5th year design project, seedS, (The Enhanced Healing Environment for Secure Setting). Since graduating Karl has won the Lupton Fawcett Business advantage Award and has just been nominated for the RIBAJ Architecture for The Common Good award.


After leaving school, Karl spent 20 fruitful years in the music industry as a DJ and music producer producing music for himself and other artists before returning to education to full fill a life time ambition to become an architect. Karl is an obsessive record collector and a fan of obscure world music.

Karl has just been appointed to the Leeds BID Business District.
