The brief was to maximise the space in a stock Victorian London terrace for the owner who commuted to London during the week. The owner wanted us to create a minimal space that he could use as a bed room, whilst allowing the rest of the house to be let out maximising rental potential. The idea for the scheme came from the owners love of out door activities, in particular camping, and the natural shape of the attic, lent itself to the form of a standard Bell tent.
The space was insulated, and boarded out with standard plywood sheets, to create a timber tent interior. A new Velux window was added for natural light and ventilation. The result, meant the client could sleep happily under the night stars, in the comfort of his own home. The work was carried out by friends and family, one weekend.
