MINKY HEADQUARTERS

BDAL were appointed after winning a limited architectural competition for the new headquarters building.  The brief was for a modern headquarters using the shell of an old textile mill owned by the client. The building includes general open plan offices in the main mill building with conference and meeting facilities in an existing wing. The two separate uses were linked by an impressive steel bridge construction. the connecting bridge element crosses the

main  reception area providing a stunning entrance to the building. The design is sympathetic to the old shell, with exposure of the traditional timber trusses and facing brickwork in the open space. Private meeting rooms are provided by glazing between the exposed trusses, lining up with structural members. The project was a success for Minky and they have subsequently commissioned a new showroom to match the new headquarters.
